A treasured piece of paradise in Indio, California since 1985
Rancho Casa Blanca has stood proudly in the Coachella Valley. Our resort community stands as a vibrant oasis both literally and figuratively. What began as a bold vision to bring comfort and connection to an arid region has blossomed into a haven for travelers and residents alike. Journey with us through the rich history of how this community was imagined, built, and transformed into the cherished retreat it is today.
Origins and Development
The Vision for Rancho Casa Blanca began in the mid-1980s under the direction of The Estes Company, a Tucson-based developer known for its residential and commercial projects across the Southwest. In May 1985, grading commenced on the expansive 1,036-lot development located north of 44th Avenue and east of Van Buren (later renamed to Golf Center Parkway).
Articles of Incorporation were filed on January 24, 1986, with the Master, along with the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions. Phase 1 of construction begins, consisting of Clubhouse 1, Satellite A, tennis court 1, an outdoor shuffleboard court, and the first 240 lots.
In the fall of 1988, WE7 Inc. declared bankruptcy. The courts then sold the project to Park Homes (Bob Holland and Mike Agee) and Champayne & Assoc (Lawrence Welk). Lawrence Welk was an American bandleader and television impresario who hosted The Lawrence Welk Show from 1951 to 1982.
The golf course opened on March 15, 1990, with Lawrence Welk hitting the first ball. To promote sales, Bob Holland started offering free breakfasts, hamburger lunches, and dinners to entice buyers.
In the year 2000, Rancho Casa Blanca officially became a 55+ park. By then, Rancho Casa Blanca was a fully established volunteer-driven community with a board of directors, several committees, and over 50 active Clubs & Classes.
